"On Virgin Moors" is the first of the Books of Lightness. The Unity have dominion over the breadth of space. Their flagship vessel, the Eia, has travelled to the far edge of the universe, under the command of Governor Chris Ballard, with one aim - to establish a colony on the distant world Essegena. They're to be the first people ever to set foot on the planet.

Except they're not. Somebody else got here first.
